It is a very common mistake to keep referring our skin as DRY but in fact our skin is DEHYDRATED.
Yes, it can all be very confusing. And you must be wondering why you even need to have the knowledge of these terms and how it can help you select the right skincare for healthy skin.
Let’s step back for a minute and get the basics right. Your oily skin is likely to be dehydrated!
Dry skin refers to skin lacking of oil. This generally occur to mature skin which lacks fats in the hypodermal layer (after epidermal, dermal layers). This is mainly due to hormonal changes as we age. Appearance wise, mature skin may seem thinner and less firm.
Dehydrated skin refers to skin lacking of water. This is particularly common in younger skin which can be oily, combination or normal but lack of moisture on the surface area. In fact, dehydrated skin usually is oily inside as it overly compensates for the lack of moisture. This is especially for those with oily acne-prone skin who use harsh products that strip the skin of water (you can read Pimple Treatment in Singapore). Appearance wise, skin may seem tight and pores may be congested with small hard whiteheads.
