In post Skin Care Tips in Singapore , we focused on how to get you started from little/no skincare to having a simple and sustainable skincare routine that can be built into a habit.
Am sure you are more diligent now and enjoying a more hydrated, balanced and healthy look, let’s take a look if we could learn more from two cultures that have created the most beauty buzz over the years France and South Korea. From the effortlessly gorgeous “I woke up like this” French look to K-Beauty’s 10-step skincare routine.
Indeed both have lots to offer.
Korean beauty is very particular about perfection, perhaps heavily influenced (or compared with) the effects of aesthetic procedures so common in Korea. A few commonly observed practices including double cleansing, layering with essence and using very lightweight fluid and sun protection.
It is also the culture which popularizes BB cream/CC cream (which some of us believe could have caused from congestion and blemishes). Whilst the rest of Asia embrace the quick fix of BB/CC cream for coverage, they have not adopted the meticulous way (or should we say methodical way) of double cleansing and application of purifying and anti-aging tonic aka essence, serum, ampoule from their Korean counterpart. In Korea, ginseng and yuza are very popular in skincare.
French beauty, on the other hand has a more laid-back attitude and yet very chic, elegant. The French loves richer, more nourishing products and tend to lean towards essential oil from lavender, rosemary, truffle, caviar, rose, sage; vitamin E rich and recently caught on to vitamin C rich ingredients. The top French skincare brands go to great length to infuse their products with the purest water from the certain famous peaks (including icy terrains), clay from the most healing mountains and rare minerals from the deepest sea.
This past decade, as a practicing beautician, have touched many faces and have spoken to many women. Whilst it is good to have perfect skin with no lines, it is very important to have a healthy outlook of beauty. Being able to embrace our imperfections instead of going extreme to correct every line, is just as important.
Am geared towards the French philosophy where some expression lines are uniquely ours as it tells a story. Our story, the path we walked before…
