Further to our article on Anti Aging Skin Care, let’s pay attention specifically to the eyes, the windows of the soul.
Although our eyes are often the first noticed when we communicate with another person, we often neglect eye care until it is too late. Dark eye circles, fine lines and puffy eyes are some of the common complaints we observe.
It is often thought that lack of sleep is responsible for dark eye circles, but it could be due to other reasons. One of the most common reason is ageing.
As people age, their skin becomes thinner due to a reduction of fat and collagen, making the blood vessels beneath it more noticeable, which thereby makes the area under the eyes appear darker. In addition, as skin becomes less firm, the baggy lower eyelids may cast a shadow on the skin below, creating the appearance of dark circles under the eyes.
This problem gets aggravated if we spend too much screen time, lack of sleep, dehydrated, allergies or smoking/drinking.
How to reduce dark eye circles?
Besides getting enough sleep and reducing screen time, a good skincare routine which includes eye serum and eye cream twice a day is essential. This will help to nourish the eyelid and under eye area as these gel like serums are full of hyaluronic acid which will hydrate the skin by plumping the cells up. On top of that, apply a good quality eye cream which has Vitamin E, A and non congesting avocado/macadamia oil to boost collagen.
Our eye skincare is very similar to face skincare goal. Firmer, more nourished skin but the eye products must not be too oily as milia (oil seed) around the eyes are quite common.
My personal favorites are Maria Galland 007 Hyaluronic Acid Serum and Maria Galland 93 Eye Cream.
